Aloha Warrior Volleyball Players,

I hope all of you enjoy your summer and are ready to start a new season. Below is important information before we begin the season. I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you. Please email me your name and contact information or call 480-560-4394.

Summer Conditioning is the Month of July, Monday- Thursday at 8:30-10:30 at Mountain View.

Official tryouts start the week of AUGUST 19-23. Tryouts will be held the first three days, then teams will be selected. Before you can practice, you need to get a physical and athletic participation form and turned in to the athletic office.

Soccer - Boys

August 19 to August 22, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM. The team’s players will be selected on Thursday, August 22, 2019. If the participant makes either Varsity, Junior Varisty, or Junior Varsity 2 teams the uniforms will be handed out on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.

Practice Procedures

  • Time and place: Aloha Grass Field & Soccer Turf Field (Mt. View)
  • The boys’ teams will practice Every day after school
  • Practices will be held from August to November.
    • -Varsity will practice at Mt. View Soccer Fields from 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
    • -JV will practice at AHS grass field from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM 
    • -JV2 will practice at AHS grass field from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM
  • Players must be present at the start of practice time already in uniform with the proper shorts, shin guards, soccer cleats and a full water bottle.
  • Any player that will be absent from a practice or late for a practice is required to contact their coach no later than the evening before practice. 
  • NOTE: The exceptions will be a family emergency or medical reason.
  • Any player suffering from illness during a school day must have the parent contact their coach in order to excuse the player from practice.
  • Players who are absent from or late to a practice without contacting the coach prior will run a number of laps as determined by their coach before being allowed to rejoin the practice.
  • Avoid using cleats on the track
  • Avoid bringing food to practice
  • Bicycles and skateboards must stay outside of the stadium complex
  • Players need to be involved in their practices and games.
  • Everyone must collaborate in collect at the beginning and after the practices the soccer equipment (soccer balls, cons, pennies, garbage, etc.) 

Tournament Game Procedures

  • The tournament season is set to begin August with two days in the week as primary game days.
    NOTE: The game schedules will be hand out once we know how many Aloha teams will be participating in the tournament. (August 28)
  • Players must be present at the game field no later than 40 minutes prior to game time already in uniform with the proper jersey, shorts, socks, shin guards, soccer cleats and a full water bottle.
  • Any player that will be absent from a game or late for a game is required to contact their coach no later than the evening before that game.
    NOTE: The exceptions will be a family emergency or medical reason.
  • Players who are late to a game without contacting the coach prior will sit-out one-half of the game.
  • Players who miss a game without contacting the coach prior will sit-out one full game.  The player is still required to be at the game they sit-out.
  • Players must bring their uniforms, shin guards, water bottles and cleats to the games.

Academic Behavior

  • Players are required to attend all classes during a school day.  Any player with an unexcused school absence need contact the coach prior resume their practices.   
  • Any player who receives a detention assignment for irresponsible behavior will be held responsible on the soccer field as well and as such will not be able to practice or play until the detention has been served.

These rules and procedures are designed to encourage mature and responsible behavior as Aloha High School Students and Aloha Soccer Team Players.

Cross Country

Cross Country Season: Cross Country is an eleven-week season that starts on August 19 and continues to October 30. We practice every weekday after school from 3-5 in the afternoon. A cross-country race is 5,000 meters or 3.1 miles. Cross-country is a great way to improve your fitness and make new friends. The typical cross-country athlete is a good citizen and student. Last year our varsity boys team had a 3.80 GPA and the varsity girls team had a 3.84 GPA.

The Season Starts August 19. The season begins at 9am, August 19th at the Aloha track for mandatory cross-country practice. It is during the first three weeks of the season before school starts that we hand out uniforms, take our team photo and compete in three meets. Athletes must practice in order to race at the Watermelon Run (August 21).

Bellarmine Prep Invitational!

Note from the Coach: We are taking our annual trip to Tacoma on Friday, September 13 and spending one night at The Great Wolf Lodge (indoor water park). We will leave early from school on Friday and take a charter bus. On Saturday, September 14, we will compete at the invitational. The meet is traditionally one of the highlights of our season. The cost will include all meals, hotel and bus transportation. To qualify for the meet, an athlete must run a time set below at one of the following 3000-meter races: August 21 – Watermelon Run, August 30 – Night Meet (your best chance). Here are the qualifying times to make it to Bellarmine:
Freshman girls 14:40, Sophomore girls 14:00, Junior girls 13:25, Senior girls 12:55
Freshman boys 12:00, Sophomore boys 11:35, Junior boys 11:10, Senior boys 10:50

SENIORS! We expect our seniors to be the most committed of our athletes in our program. Seniors who attend 60% of our summer practices (June 17-August 14) will be able to come out for crosscountry. If a senior attends less than 60% of the summer practices, they run a mile (senior girls must run 8:00 or faster and senior boys must run 6:30 or faster) on the first day of practice to be on the team. Senior also has the same lettering policy as the rest of the team. To letter for a girl, she must run 22:00 or faster on a 5K course and a boy must run 18:00 or faster on a 5K course.

Team Camp

Location: University of Oregon Campus

Date: August 15 - 17

Cost: $70

Camp Requirements: In order to qualify for the camp, each athlete must complete a three-mile run at a summer practice in early August in the following times:
Freshman girls 25:30, Sophomore girls 24:15, Junior girls 23:15, Senior girls 22:30
Freshman boys 21:00, Sophomore boys 20:00, Junior boys 19:15, Senior boys 18:45

NOTE FROM THE COACH: Our team camp will be on the University of Oregon campus. It is a time to get to know one another, play games, play beach volleyball, scavenger hunts, chocolate milk relays and run. The cost will be to pay for transportation, food and boarding.

Summer Training

Athletes who complete 18 of the 30 summer practices from June 17 to August 14 will receive a free 2019 Nike Dry- Fit Aloha Cross Country t-shirt.

The key to an enjoyable and successful cross-country season is a strong summer of training. During the summer months, our coaching staff meets regularly so each athlete can be ready for cross-country in the fall. We will meet at the Aloha track every and our practices are 90 minutes long. The practices are voluntary as we all have exciting summer vacation plans and important employment obligations. Yet, if you are home during this time, we need your participation. We become better runners when we have teammates pushing us

The voluntary summer practices do not have a participation fee (the $225 fee is due by August 14), but you must have a participation form completed and complete a physical (has to be done every two years) before you can participate on June 17.

Summer Mileage Club

Summer Mileage Clubs! We have a plan for you to succeed.

In order to be a part of the mileage club, we need to have a short interview before May 31 so we can plan for the summer.

To help you be ready to compete in September and protect you from nagging lower leg injuries, we are offering a mileage club. This club encourages you to run at least five to six days a week to prepare for fall practices. The mileage gradually increases, as you get stronger in the summer.

In order to receive a mileage club gift, an athlete must complete the miles and show improvement from the previous season. If you complete the mileage program, you will receive an Aloha XC Athletic Bag or Backpack! An athlete must have already completed a cross country season the year previous or run distance in track in the spring to be eligible.

Here are the mileage options for returning athletes:
Senior Boys = 400 mile club, Junior Boys = 350 or 400 mile club, Sophomore Boys = 300 or 350 mile club
Senior Girls = 350 mile club, Junior Girls = 300 or 350 mile club, Sophomore Girls = 300 or 350 mile club
